First Sundays · Soulquarians Etc. w/ Courtnee Owens
Join us for the first Sunday of every month as your selector Courtnee Owens takes a journey through the past, present, and future or neosoul music — and beyond!
Note: Due to popular demand, Soulquarians is now always a ticketed event. Check out our Dice.fm page to see this and other upcoming ticketed events.
Second Sundays · DJ Hong Kwon’s Highball Crisis
On the second Sunday of each month, Philadelphia-based and internationally-renowned DJ Hong Kwon (alongside visiting guest selectors) spins a mix of tunes from across the globe including (but not limited to) Brazilian funk and soul, Japanese City Pop, and Latin jazz.
Brought to you in partnership with The House of Suntory.
Last Wednesdays · Folk City with John Train
Folk City is an immersive jaunt into the world of folk, blues and roots music from both sides of the Atlantic Ocean to be played via 48 Record Bar’s ultra-high fidelity vinyl sound system as well as in live performance. Audiophiles can look forward to a curated and eclectic selection of folk, rock, jazz, and blues spun by hosts John Train and 48 Record Bar’s Creative Director Joey Sweeney held on the final Wednesday of each month. John Train — referred to as a “storyteller par excellence” by The Philadelphia Inquirer – boasts an impressive repertoire of seven critically acclaimed album releases, iconic performances across the globe, and popular residencies in Philadelphia, amongst further accolades.
This intimate and innovative foray into the roots and future of songwriting will also feature a secret song session with live music mystery guests in addition to vinyl selects.
